Industrial Metrology
Industrial Metrology Department of the Metrology Division is responsible for the calibration of industrial weights, measures, weighing and measuring in Ghana. Through awareness creation, more clients in the manufacturing and service sectors are gradually presenting their equipment instruments for calibration. The Department also organizes training workshops/seminars on measurements for industry with regards to the use and calibration of process control equipment. Learn moreThe Scientific Metrology Department of the Authority’s Metrology Division is responsible for the Metrology Laboratories. It undertakes the calibration of laboratory, medical and other equipment. Three of its laboratories (Temperature, Mass and Pressure) are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by DKD of Germany. Table below provides area of measurement and range of equipment calibrated by the Department. In line with the requirements of the Weights and Measures Decree, the Scientific Metrology Department registers all dealers in weights and measure conducting business in Ghana
Learn moreLegal Metrology involves all measurements which are subjected to legal or regulatory control. The Ghana Standards Authority is mandated by the Weights and Measures Decree, NRCD 326 of 1975 to ensure fair trading practices through the verification of weights and measures. It does so through the Legal Metrology Department of its Metrology Division. The Legal Metrology Department verifies the weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments of corporate organizations such as Ghana Police force and a few individual set ups. It also organizes trading seminars annually for stakeholders to build their capacity on measurements and related subjects. Table below indicates category of establishments and the instruments being verified for them.
